I realize this post may be a tad late because it’s being on published Valentine’s Day, and you’re supposed to read said romance books to “get in the mood” for the day of love. But ya know what, a good romance can be read anytime during the year, so here is a list of my top 5 favorites! ❤️ (Also just to note, the books in the above pic are not in this post. That would be the ideal situation though…for next time. 😬)
I will recommend Tell Me Three Things till the day I die!! Ok maybe not that long, because it is 100% YA. There’s no explicit sex scenes, it is strictly PG. But I honestly think that’s what makes it so great! It’s the gestures and the thoughtfulness and the element of a “secret admirer” that just made me feel so happy when I read it!
Once And For All is a classic Sarah Dessen romance novel, but there’s also a tragic element to it. It jumps back and forth between present and past tense, the past being where the tragedy happened and even though I knew what was coming, I just didn’t want it to happen! I felt so heart broken for Louna, but again as a typical Dessen romance, I knew it would work out for her in the end!
I’m actually just going to recommend this whole series. There’s something about books taking place at boarding schools that just draws me in. Again, this one is super PG, but it’s just so light and cute and fluffy and the travel element is fun as well!
Ok, I’ll throw in a more adult one finally. This one was an overall very enjoyable read that delved deeper into the experiences someone with autism faces, especially when it comes to dating. I will admit that the sex scenes are very explicit, so if that makes you uncomf, maybe skip it!
This one might be a little controversial to include because the relationship between Abby and Travis isn’t the healthiest, but there were still so many swoon-worthy parts! Beautiful Disaster will always stick with me as one of my favorite reads purely for the characters and the emotional rollercoaster it takes. I will say, I’ve read other Jamie McGuire books and nothing has even come close to comparing to this one for me!
So, that’s it! That’s my list! What do you think? Have you read any of these yet? Are there any romance reads you’d recommend? Doesn’t have to be YA btw, even though that’s mostly what I included. 😅
